Alberto Santofimio Botero is a Colombian politician and lawyer, born on November 5, 1942 in Bogotá, Colombia. He was a member of the Colombian Liberal Party and served as a Senator in the Colombian Congress.

Santofimio was a close associate of former Colombian president Ernesto Samper and served as his campaign manager during the 1994 presidential election. However, his political career was marred by controversy, as he was implicated in the assassination of presidential candidate Luis Carlos Galán in 1989.

In 2007, Santofimio was convicted and sentenced to 24 years in prison for his role in the assassination of Galán. He was also implicated in the 1995 assassination of Andrés Pastrana's father, Misael Pastrana.

Despite his convictions, Santofimio maintained his innocence and continued to be involved in Colombian politics from prison. He was released on parole in 2014 after serving seven years of his sentence.
